A load of rubbish
Rubbish can build up so quickly in camp, first one bag then two. If you are on a campsite with a bin then easily dealt with, but if wild or field camping you need to be more resourceful.
A couple of tips on how to deal with it.
First of all, and most importantly, don’t take packaged food with you. If you stop at a major supermarket for a big shop en-route then you’ll have a mountain of packaging to deal with, mostly plastic. I find it takes almost as many bags to discard this waste as it comes in.
Much better to stop at independent local shops to where you are staying. Butchers, bakers, greengrocers, fishmongers etc. You find almost no packaging comes with this, just a few paper and plastic bags.
Secondly. If you are cooking out on a campfire or fire bowl, especially if you are cooking meat, then while you are eating add some more wood and throw your bones or scraps in the fire.
You can also wipe your plates after use with kitchen roll and throw that on too. Even your peelings can go on if it’s a nice hot fire. This keeps organic waste down in your rubbish and so deter dogs, badgers and other wild animals from rummaging through and scattering your rubbish.
All you should be left with (in an ideal world) is a small bag of recycling.
