Leave the car alone and engage…
We’ve all spent holidays where we seem to have spent the whole time taking little trips out, here there and everywhere. Each time is a break from an otherwise relaxed holiday.
What I find far preferable is to unload the car and set up camp, then ideally move the car to another spot and leave it there.. for the duration.
To this avail I try and remember to take everything I need and from there on in if I want an excursion I need to engage with the local environment. Walk through it, get a bus brackets (ask people) even hitchhike.
It’s much more satisfying arriving somewhere under your own steam, especially if on foot. A village shop feels far more precious when you’ve got there on your own two legs. Remember to take a good backpack or two as you have to carry it back now ? keep the weight down, packets not tins.
Happy hiking.
