Lighting and ambience….
What’s the difference between Glamping and camping?
I see camping as a great holiday solution. It’s comparatively cheap, fun and good for the whole family. Glamping is essentially the same thing but with more consideration given to comfort and style.
It’s not just about looking good for others to see it’s about feeling good in your own purpose made environment. So how about making your campsite pitch into a glamping pitch?
There are two modes to great glamping set up. Daytime (which I will cover another time) and night-time. Make sure your setup is both practical and beautiful for both.
I love the moment when dusk appears, and my camping lighting comes into play. The darker it gets the more magical the environment. I’ve been through almost all kinds of lighting over the years but the ones I’m settled on and most happy with are a combination of solar powered copper wire LED warm lights, candles in jars, candles in Moroccan lamps, and for outside… wax garden flares , and of course a nice glowing fire.
The beauty of solar powered lighting is of course no batteries to buy or remember. One day of sunshine or daylight will power one evening of use. Mine even turn themselves on when the time is right. Set them up and forget about them.
I also have some battery powered LED light strings (always warm light) which I can move around to illuminate specific areas for cooking eating and chilling. I always take one bright camping lamp with chunky batteries. To light up the whole tent in one go when needed.
The warm natural light that candles and warm light LEDs give off suits the natural colours and organic style of my setup. Build your own Lighting scheme and decor to suit your personal taste. If you want to go bright colourful and funky, a party hub, then do it. Or have both setups, chilled and party mode.
Happy Glamping.
