The Glawning – Add an Extra Wing to Your Camping Set Up
With the prospect of a foreign holiday this year out of reach the best we can hope for is a camping holiday in the UK, and that’s fine by us because that is the best type of holiday! With the money you’ll save on going abroad, you can invest in a great bit of kit for your camping, glamping or even caravanning holiday – the glawning.
The glawning is an awning for your motorhome, caravan or van which can also be used as a standalone bell tent, making it a versatile addition to your camping or glamping set up and acting as an extra wing – you’ll have a glamping mansion in no time. They’re easy to put up, comfortable, and come with a range of accessories, including a woodburning stove, to make your extra wing the best place to hang out whatever the weather.
Every camping situation can be improved with a glawning. It’s the perfect place for the adults to relax once the children have been put to bed in the van, and with a range of sizes available it easily doubles up as an extra bedroom. In wet weather there’s ample space to play, you can even get a game of Twister going if you remember to pack it. At festivals the glawning provides an excellent space to get changed in, as you can stand up to your full height to put on an elaborate costume and you can get all your mates in for a sing song too. Because the glawning can be used as a bell tent on its own it is ideal for festival goers who don’t always want to take a motorhome with them – the camping areas for these are often far away from the main campgrounds and the atmosphere.
The woodburning stove is one accessory that will make all the difference to your glamping experience. Of course, if you use your glawning with a motorhome you’ve got a kitchen already, but there’s something about going back to basics that is good for the soul, and with a woodburning stove for heating, cooking and water boiling (and some marshmallow toasting) you get this benefit. If you’ve settled the kids down for an early night you can still cook yourself a meal in the glawning without waking them up and stay cosy while you do so. When it rains there’s no worry about using a camping stove in an enclosed space, just fire up the wood burner and in 10 minutes you’re cooking, but not with gas!
The glawning is very versatile, as it is useable as a standalone tent or as a drive-away awning; giving you the freedom to travel out and about while leaving your camping set up in situ. It can be attached to either side of your vehicle and fits well on most standard vehicles – all the fixings are supplied. Fitting the woodburning stove is easy, full instructions are provided and the best thing is that you get to choose the location of the stove because you know your preferences best. You don’t have to have a woodburning stove in your glawning, but most people opt to add one once they’ve enjoyed a summer using it and want to continue the fun well into the winter months. The hardier souls among us may even want to camp out in winter when the landscape is very different from the summer, but still beautiful, and the wood burner means this can be done comfortably.
